Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) Practices at MISO

ESG score

MISO is committed to understanding how environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles impact business, member strategies and the RTO’s reputation. ESG scores help stakeholders, creditors and investors assess non-financial business factors. While ESG scoring is new to MISO, the concepts of environmental stewardship, social responsibility and strong governance are not. MISO continually develops and integrates its ESG practices into its business model.

MISO monitors and forecasts environmental factors that may affect system operations and the goals of regional members.

Fleet Transition

As member utilities, state regulators and customers push for more renewable resources, MISO works in tandem to support their goals. As a result, since 2005, carbon emissions have declined almost 40% in the MISO footprint.

MISO employees generously and proudly give their time, talents and treasures to the communities where they live and work. They support each other by joining and participating in employee resource groups (ERGs), leveraging diversity of thought, backgrounds and beliefs.

ERGs at MISO

MISO’s core values are bound in the framework of ethical business practices. Its directors, officers and employees must comply with the MISO Standards of Conduct and adhere to the highest ethical standards in performing their duties. This upholds MISO’s mission to work collaboratively and transparently with stakeholders and deliver low-cost energy through efficient, innovative operations and planning.
