The objective of this issue is to improve forward-looking transparency for stakeholders and MISO, and to increase early outage scheduling and flexibility during emergencies. 

  • Produce additional historic and forward looking forecasts
  • Improve use and capabilities of current outage tracking and impact analysis tools
  • Implement incentives to schedule outages and derates 'well in advance,' while encouraging near term flexibility

 This issue was identified in 2018 as a Phase 1 issue of Resource Availability and Need (IR025)

Reliability Subcommittee (RSC) reviewed proposed Module C tariff language for January 30 filing to improve Outage Coordination and forward scheduling. Feedback request on tariff language open through January 22, 2019.

MISO is deferring the outage coordination components of the RAN initiative to no later than January 31, 2019 to allow for additional discussion around provisions to support these nearer term, flexible outages. MISO requested feedback on updated RAN Draft Tariff language. Stakeholders have been requested to submit proposals on how to address the shorter lead time outages for discussion on January 3, 2019.

Stakeholders requested for MISO to delay filing the outage coordination components of the RAN initiative.

Reliability Subcommittee (RSC) reviewed proposed tariff language for December 21 filing. Feedback request on tariff language open through December 13. A conference call is scheduled December 7 for tariff language Q & A.

A RAN Workshop was held on November 16. There was detailed discussion and a recording of the workshop is available in the November 16 RAN Workshop Meeting Materials.

Outage Coordination Improvements opportunities identified and assigned to the RSC. Two feedback requests are open with a November 16, 2018 deadline.
