MISO's Community Service Resource Group is celebrating National Volunteer week by recognizing our top volunteers. We invite you to learn more about our employees who are making a positive impact in our communities.
Kayla De La Croix spends her days leading MISO’s agile transformation team. At home, she’s a mom of two boys and enjoys playing board games with her husband. Even while having a busy career and family of her own, Kayla felt compelled to find a way to serve her community in a way that was meaningful to her.
Kayla’s brother is 13 years older than her, so by the time she reached elementary school, he was already married and no longer living at home. Growing up without another sibling in the house, she often wished for someone to share her thoughts and enjoy fun activities with. Her passion for helping young people led her to Big Brothers Big Sisters, where she was eager to offer the experiences she had missed out on during her own childhood.
Kayla and her Little, Lily, were matched in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic and both will be graduating from the Big Brothers Big Sisters program this spring. Since being paired, the two have shared many experiences including game nights, getting their nails done together and volunteering at the Misty Eyes Animal shelter together. Kayla’s other passion is pets.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is always looking for new volunteers to work with young people. The time commitment is as little as 2-4 hours a month.
Kayla finds volunteering to be personally fulfilling. She believes it provides a lasting impact on our communities and aligns with MISO’s core values. She encourages MISO employees to take advantage of their paid volunteer time. Thank you to Kayla for giving her time and talents to the community! MISO commends her commitment and dedication.
