For the second year in a row, MISO has been acknowledged by the VETS Indexes for our strong commitment to recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing and supporting veterans and members of the military-connected community.
While last year MISO was acknowledged as a Recognized Employer, this year, we’ve been named a 3 Star Employer in the 2025 VETS Indexes Employer Awards program. We are ecstatic about joining our notable colleagues celebrating this distinction.
MISO’s inclusion in this year’s list reflects our ongoing efforts to foster a workplace culture that values the unique skills and experience of veterans, National Guard and Reserve members and military families. MISO’s Veterans Resource Group (VRG), an employee-created and lead group, works closely with MISO leadership to develop recruiting and training initiatives that support career and talent development for veterans.
This program was developed by the team of veteran employment experts responsible for the Employing U.S. Vets Conference and VETS Indexes, with additional input from the foremost veteran employment experts. VETS Indexes criteria include:
“Even as more organizations recognize the valuable skills that veterans bring to the workforce, MISO’s efforts stand out,” said George Altman, president of VETS Indexes. “Congratulations to MISO for creating a workplace that welcomes and empowers veterans.”
Over the past several years, VRG’s efforts both within and outside of MISO have resulted in a robust, employee-focused program offering lunch and learn sessions, supporting the local Pets Healing Vets program, and recognizing the contributions of our veteran employees. Within our communities, VRG connects employees with veteran service organizations, offers flag retirement services and participates in veteran-focused recruiting events like the Student Veterans of America national conference.
