Forecasted LMPs by MTEP Future

MISO generates detailed Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP) forecasts through PROMOD IV® for a set of MTEP futures on an annual basis.  LMP represents the marginal cost of supplying the next increment of electric demand at a specific location (node) on the transmission grid, considering the physical and operational limitations of generation and transmission facilities.  It reflects how the marginal price may vary at different times and locations based on transmission congestion and losses on the system and consist of a Marginal energy component, Marginal congestion component and Marginal Loss Component.

MISO Midwest Futures:

The hourly forecasted LMPs are produced for the 5, 10 and 15 year out PROMOD planning models by future, based on a set of out-year policy and economic assumptions vetted through the Planning Advisory Committee.

MISO South Futures

Planning for MISO's South region takes place through the MISO South Market Efficient Planning Study process. As with the Midwest Futures, hourly forecasted LMPs are produced for the 5, 10 and 15 year out PROMOD planning models by Future, based on a set of south region focused out-year policy and economic assumptions. These assumptions are vetted through the MISO South Market Efficiency Planning Study process until post MTEP14 when these assumptions will be vetted through the MTEP process. In addition, hourly LMP forecasts are produced for the 2014 PROMOD models for the MISO South Business As Usual Future.

Note: These preliminary hourly LMP forecasts are refreshed with updated modeling assumptions throughout the study process.
