Real-Time Smart Grid Technology  

Alt text goes hereAs a user of Smart Grid technology, MISO furthers the U.S. Department of Energy’s goal of revitalizing the nation’s electric grid. Information gathered from our synchrophasors allows us to detect conditions of the electric grid 30 times every second. Synchrophasors provide immediate value - enhancing MISO’s ability to simulate and troubleshoot the bulk power system to bring a new level of situational awareness for grid operators.

    MISO exists to provide an independent platform for efficient regional energy markets.  Since 2001, we have fostered wholesale electric
    competition in the region, created greater system reliability and established coordinated, value-based regional planning.
