MISO’s active role in its surrounding communities includes support for blood drives and other community causes. Plus, employees get up to four hours of paid time off each month to serve local needs of their choice.
We have strong, long-running relationships with regional chapters of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. To help provide joyful experiences for children who have life-threatening medical conditions, MISO hosts a variety of fundraisers, including a monthly request for donations that gives employees permission to wear blue jeans to work. Employee Learning Week aims to educate our employees about the future of MISO as well as the different departments within our organization and how they work with each other.
Throughout the year, we also offer courses on topics ranging from management skills to effectively leading meetings.
College and University Relations
Every fall, members of the MISO College Relations Team embark on the “Heartland Tour.” Visits to select colleges and universities help us recruit students for summer internship and co-op programs. Many visits include Power Lunches where students connect with MISO professionals, watch technical presentations or educational videos, and get information about our summer internship and co-op programs. We also attend many school-wide career fairs.
This consistent outreach helps MISO attract top talent from the best schools. We receive several hundreds of applications to our programs each year. Selected candidates participate in an extensive on-site interview process at our Carmel, Ind., corporate office.
MISO strives to engage employees within the office walls as well as outside the workplace. Events such as employee picnics, baseball outings and department-specific activities let MISO employees network with peers and build long-lasting relationships. These experiences benefit individuals as well as our workplace culture.
